Vietnam: ONE DAY to change someone else's world

ONE DAY to change someone else's world
WHAT IS ONE DAY?

Many of you may well know what the ACCI's ONE DAY campaign is all about or at least heard about it. A simple concept with an extraordinary outcome!

It's all about choosing one day throughout the year to give one day's salary to change someone else's world. We can all do this! A church, a business, a community or even a group of friends can make a date and create an event that works in your context to give just ONE DAY's salary to be the catalyst to see lives impacted.

>From the very inception of ONE DAY, we at AOG World Relief Vietnam have been holding ONE DAY events, beginning with just our team and a few of our local government partners, to now holding it in a larger venue for the one hundred plus who come so they can give their ONE DAY'S salary.

As I have said, you may know about the ONE DAY campaign, however you may not know how ONE DAY is making a difference at the coal face. Our team at AOGWR are just one of many who benefit from this valuable event.

Let me tell you of some of the incredible testimonies that have come about because of ONE DAY, and giving ONE DAY'S SALARY.
VIETNAM
"Thirty two children drown each day on average in Vietnam. It is a devastating statistic. Thanks to ONE DAY funds we were able to put a swimming pool in a rural area and pay for training of teachers to teach children to swim."
Deb Hilton AOGWR Vietnam.
CAMBODIA
"ONE DAY funds have made an incredible difference to Mother's Heart Org. We've been able to capacity build our staff to serve our clients better and buy much needed equipment for our child care centre so our babies and children have a beautiful space while their mothers work. We are extremely grateful for ONE DAY support."
Katrina Gliddon, founder of Mother's Heart.
SRI LANKA
"ONE DAY has helped make possible our Alokaya women's conference. This conference is impacting and raising an army of women in Sri Lanka to rise up and become all that they are called to be. What an incredible force!"
Alison Atkinson, founder of Alokaya Women's Conference.
PHILIPPINES
"ONE DAY funds made it possible for us to de-worm over 2,000 children who live in poverty and we were also able to put a new roof on our church. ONE DAY funds last longer than one day. ONE DAY becomes many days of impact."
Mark Pedder serving the poor in Manila.

We love how we get to influence our world in Vietnam every day and we are equally excited about how lives are being impacted around the world.
>From firsthand experience we can say that the ONE DAY campaign is definitely playing a significant part is seeing goals and vision become a reality on the field.
Thank you to those who partake in ONE DAY and can we encourage those who have not, to consider running a ONE DAY event this year.
Love
Paul and Deb

News from Deb and Paul September 2018

Deb’s opportunity to speak at Desert Life Church’s Women’s Conference in Alice Springs.
Deb shared on each one being significant in the eyes of God. That He has a plan and a purpose
for each and every one of us. Many women responded to the messages Deb spoke on.
PLEASE PRAY FOR THESE BEAUTIFUL WOMEN OF OUR RED CENTRE OF AUSTRALIA
TO CONTINUE TO THRIVE IN GOD

Over the 20years that we have been on the field, many of our team have been with us for this
whole time. We are blessed with such an amazing team. Unfortunately we lost one of our
valued team members last week.
Phuoc was an active member in his church, he loved God and loved people. He had a beautiful
servant heart and was always willing to be a helping hand. Our loss is God’s gain.
PLEASE
PRAY FOR HIS FAMILY AS THEY MOURN THE LOSS OF OUR DEAR FRIEND AND
COLLEGUE PHUOC.

We love that our kids are with us, and running ministries of their own.Our son Josh and our daughter in law RachAt the school our daughter in law works at owned and operated by a Christian couple,
besides educational curriculum, Rachel (our daughter in law) is teaching these kids they that
they have worth and value. Another thing our son Josh is doing at that school is running
breakfast club with the students. Many are from poor homes or from homes where the family
is too busy and kids often miss out on breakfast, which means their concentration during
class is low. These breakfast clubs are making a huge impact on the kids ability to
concentrate. Also they are starting to respond to Josh and Rach because of the love shown
to them both in a practical way and mentoring them.
PLEASE PRAY FOR JOSH AND RACH
AS THEY CONTINUE TO BRING INFLUENCE IN THIS SCHOOL AND BEYOND. ALSO
FOR THEIR CHURCH SERVICE WHICH THEY RUN IN SUNDAY EVENINGS

Belinda, our daughterIs reaching out to kids who have special needs and kids who don’t fit into the mainstream of
the public schools. Belinda is also teaching these children that they have worth and value, is
teaching them fruits of the spirit and other Godly principles.
PLEASE PRAY FOR BELINDA
AND FOR THE RESOURCES SHE NEEDS TO CONTINUE TO TEACH THESE CHILDREN.
ALSO FOR EACH OF THESE CHILDREN TO KNOW THE LOVE OF GOD IN A REAL WAY.

Fwd: Paul and Deb news from Nam

FIRST FLOURISH CONFERENCE
Many of you know that our team has written Life Skills Programs - Courageous for guys and Flourish for women and girls. We are overwhelmed by how far and wide these programs have gone in just three and a half years. We know this is simply due to the foundation these programs are based on. Gen 1:26 (Flourish) and Joshua 1:9 (Courageous)

In June this year we were thrilled to hold our very first FLOURISH conference, where facilitators from 10 of the 14 nations who are running FLOURISH, came together to celebrate the impact FLOURISH is having on women and girls across the globe.

We got to hear many amazing testimonies from some of these facilitators who shared of how girls lives have been impacted. Although the participants came from different backgrounds, cultures and circumstances, the accounts were similar. Many were now living a more confident, goal orientated life, with a belief in a better future for themselves.

We also heard from three women who shared their personal testimonies of how they had stood strong in the face of adversity. Standing strong through loss, sickness and abuse.  Each one witnessing to the fact that God had been their anchor through it all. "This hope is a strong and trustworthy anchor for our souls. It leads us through the curtain into God's inner sanctuary." Hebrews 6:10

Later this year, we are taking FLOURISH into Central Asia.
2000 CHILDREN ARE REPORTED TO BEING SEXUALLY ABUSED EVERY YEAR IN VIETNAM
We at AOGWR are working together with our local government to educate and equip both parents and children with the tools to not only recognise, but also protect themselves from sexual abuse. TAKE A MOMENT TO CHECK OUT OUR LATEST VIDEO BY CLICKING ON THE IMAGE BELOW
If you would like to give towards more families being educated and equipped please click the button below to give 'any amount' to this worthy and needed program.

FAMILY NEWS
BELINDA, Emilie, Olivia, Josiah & Isaac
Belinda & the kids have have been back in Vietnam for about 18 months now. Belinda's heart is to see children, particularly those struggling with special needs be educated in a way they best relate to learning. Recently Belinda ran a Summer Program with children from the community using the Charlotte Mason curriculum. This program lends itself to following the child's natural learning style, with emphasis on short lessons & encouraging natural curiosity both through outside exploration, 'living books,' art, music, poetry, as well as observing nature.
JOSH, RACH, Ellia, Asher & Macie
Josh and Rach are building a great community through their HOPE United gatherings. They are seeing new people come along each week and getting connected in. Also Rach is teaching at a local school. This school focuses on imparting worth and value into these children's lives. Two days a week Josh runs a breakfast club for these students as Rach noticed that at times, some of these kids come to school hungry and lack concentration. These breakfasts are making a huge difference to the kids and the Principal is grateful for this support.
It's great having all our family together again and actively involved in reaching community.
